Publisher Manifesto
Local Waves Magazine
We are a group of entrepreneurs, poets, and writers from Cambridge, Massachusetts. We see a world where great literature and poetry are often undervalued and many talented writers struggle to find publishing opportunities, a gap we are committed to bridging. Our mission is to help local emerging artists, writers, and poets get their voices heard, starting within their communities and expanding to reach a wider audience. That's why we are launching Local Waves, a magazine dedicated to showcasing emerging talent and supported by local businesses.
Many believe that the backbone of literary support lies with patrons and large companies, those who possess ample resources. From designers and builders to educators, healthcare workers, florists, local artisans, and beyond—these businesses are the backbone of our communities. By partnering with us, they contribute to community cultural development and attract new customers through our unique distribution model.
Our magazine will be freely distributed in local communities, ensuring it reaches a diverse and expansive audience. We hold a fundamental belief that great literature should be accessible to all. Our mission aligns with grassroots services like small local libraries and little libraries on the corner, which provide free books to the public. Each month, we will place copies of our magazine in these small library boxes, making sure that when one is taken, another is placed, ensuring constant availability.
Local Waves is created to help local writers and poets get published, engage businesses, and foster communities where literature thrives!
